Seth Andrew Klarman is the founder and CEO of Baupost Group, one of the most respected value-oriented hedge funds in the world. Baupost manages approximately $26 billion and is known for its disciplined, patient approach to value investing and its willingness to hold large cash positions when opportunities are scarce.
Klarman graduated from Cornell University and Harvard Business School. He founded Baupost in 1982 with $27 million. His book "Margin of Safety" (1991) is considered a classic of value investing — copies regularly sell for over $1,000 because it has never been reprinted.
Baupost has generated annualised net returns of approximately 20% since inception. Klarman is known for being extremely private and rarely speaking publicly. He is often cited as the successor to Benjamin Graham and Warren Buffett's value investing tradition. His net worth is estimated at approximately $1.5 billion.
