Sir Michael Hintze AM is the founder and CEO of CQS, a multi-strategy asset management firm managing approximately $18 billion in assets. CQS is one of the leading credit-focused investment firms in Europe.
Born in China to Russian émigrés, Hintze grew up in Australia. He studied at the University of Sydney and Harvard Business School before working at Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse. He founded CQS in 1999 in London.
CQS specialises in credit, convertible bonds, and asset-backed securities. Hintze is known for his philanthropy, having donated extensively to the arts, education, and the Catholic Church. He was knighted in 2013. His net worth is estimated at approximately $1.5 billion.
