Louis Moore Bacon is the founder of Moore Capital Management, a global macro hedge fund that managed approximately $15 billion at its peak. Bacon is regarded as one of the most talented macro traders of his generation.
Bacon graduated from Middlebury College and Columbia Business School. He began his trading career at Walter N. Frank & Co. and later worked at Shearson Lehman Brothers before founding Moore Capital in 1989.
Moore Capital is perhaps best known for generating massive profits in 1990 when Bacon correctly anticipated the Gulf War's impact on markets. The fund returned over 86% that year. Bacon has largely returned outside capital in recent years and manages mostly personal and employee money. He is an avid conservationist who has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to environmental causes. His net worth is estimated at approximately $1.8 billion.
