Jeffrey Talpins is the founder and chief investment officer of Element Capital Management, an ultra-secretive macro hedge fund managing approximately $23 billion in assets. Element is known for its fixed income and macro-focused strategies.
Very little is publicly known about Talpins, who is one of the most private major fund managers in the industry. He reportedly studied at Cornell University and worked at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup before founding Element Capital in 2005.
Element has generated strong, consistent returns with notably low volatility. The fund focuses on global macro opportunities, particularly in interest rates, sovereign bonds, and currencies. Despite managing billions, Talpins almost never appears in the media and does not appear on typical hedge fund manager rich lists because his wealth is difficult to estimate.
