Alan Howard is the co-founder of Brevan Howard Asset Management, one of Europe's largest and most successful macro hedge funds managing approximately $35 billion in assets.
Howard studied computer science at Imperial College London before beginning his career as a fixed income trader at Salomon Brothers and then Credit Suisse. He co-founded Brevan Howard in 2002 with four partners including Chris Rokos.
The firm's flagship Master Fund has generated annualised net returns of approximately 9% since inception, with particular strength during volatile markets — the fund posted +25% in 2020. Howard is known as an exceptionally talented rates trader. He stepped back from some management duties in recent years but remains the firm's dominant trading presence. He relocated to Geneva, Switzerland, and his net worth is estimated at approximately $2.8 billion.
