Boaz Weinstein is the founder and CIO of Saba Capital Management, a credit-focused hedge fund managing approximately $6 billion in assets. Weinstein is known for his expertise in credit derivatives and his activist campaigns against closed-end funds.
A chess prodigy who became a Life Master at age 15, Weinstein joined Deutsche Bank at age 24 and became the bank's youngest-ever managing director. He headed Deutsche Bank's proprietary credit trading desk, where he generated hundreds of millions in profits before suffering significant losses in 2008.
He founded Saba Capital in 2009 and has generated strong returns, particularly through his tail-risk hedging strategies and credit relative value trading. In recent years, Saba has become one of the most prominent activists in the closed-end fund space, engaging in proxy fights to unlock discounts to net asset value.
