GLOBAL TRADER RANKINGS / RECORD COMPARISON

Composite Trader Scores and Weight Sensitivity

Factor provenance, missing inputs and why decimal precision does not create ranking evidence.

A formula cannot supply absent observations

Composite scores typically transform several inputs and combine them with chosen weights. The equation may be reproducible while its factor data are not. A numerical factor needs an identified observation, unit, interval and source. Reputation cannot fill a missing drawdown field or create an independently measured execution score.

The former empirical scores on this site are withdrawn. This guide does not reconstruct them from archived values, because those values lacked primary per-trader records. Preserving the old URLs makes the correction discoverable; it does not make the earlier estimates eligible inputs for a new model.

Normalisation embeds comparison choices

Scaling different measures to a common range requires choices about the population, outliers, direction and missing values. A score that looks stable can change when the admitted population changes. A percentile without a documented comparison set is not a universal statement about trading skill.

Before a legitimate scoring exercise, freeze the admissible cohort and transformation rules. Preserve whether low values are better for each factor and what happens when a value is absent. Do not substitute a population mean simply because a table needs every cell filled. That replacement changes the evidence rather than recovering it.

Weights are editorial or model assumptions

Weights can express an editorial preference or a predeclared model, but they do not certify a real outcome. A user who values liquidity may choose a different ordering from one who values long observation history. Explain the intended question before calling any output a ranking.

In an invented two-factor example, changing emphasis from headline return to documentation coverage can reverse an adjacent order. The point is not to discover the best real trader from fictional inputs. It is to show that an ordinal label can reflect an assumption about priorities as much as a measured performance difference.

Sensitivity is not independent validation

Changing weights around a chosen configuration can reveal fragile ordering. It cannot replace an out-of-sample financial test or an authentic source ledger. Running many weight combinations after inspecting the desired winner also introduces a selection problem. Keep the predeclared configuration and every change in the authoring record.

Treat near ties as near ties where the available precision and uncertainty justify that conclusion. A tenth of a point cannot resolve source uncertainty spanning a whole account definition. Publishing an interval, a partial ordering or no rank may communicate the evidence more accurately than another exact league position.

Publish the method and abstention rule

A future sourced exercise should disclose inputs, transformations, weights, population and missing-data decisions before presenting an order. It should identify whether the score is editorial, predictive or descriptive. Do not imply that a formula is an independently audited consensus simply because it is public.

This release uses a compatibility check rather than a composite scoring engine. It can identify defined mismatches in supplied metadata but does not certify that the metadata are true. The abstention rule is deliberate: source gaps remain visible, and unsupported precision does not return through a more polished tool.

Apply the distinction

Use the complete authored packet to inspect how this issue changes the permissible comparison. Record unresolved inputs rather than replacing them with a made-up number. Keep an original source reference beside each factual observation, and state when the calculation is illustrative rather than based on an actual account.
